I had been using a Brancher ligature on my Greg Smith mouthpiece for many years. I had very little problem with slippage as the mouthpiece was not overly snug. Then the unthinkable happened and my mouthpiece had an "unfortunate encounter" with the floor, big chunk missing. Bought a new mouthpiece which fits very snuggly and the Brancher was not up to the task any more. Bought a very inexpensive Rovner dark ligature. It holds fast while I remove and replace the mouthpiece. After I bought the Rovner I did a comparison with it, the Brancher, and a piece of Velcro. I could not detect any difference in sound or feel among the three options.
A Rovner could be the answer to your problem. Just my thought.....
