I occasionally use a non-inverted Bonade ... it seems to keep the ligature away from the sides of the reed much better than the inverted. However, the chance of the little metal rails uniformly contacting the bark over the length of the reed is remote ... there are high and low spots. I think a round rod, instead of the little (not quite so) "flat" rails might be better. I can see that cutting away much of the ligature, including the rails, might reduce this problem.
I like two screw ligatures ... I might be open to a longer three screw ligature with three pairs of contact points on the reed.
The Luyben solves some of the problems ... but I prefer metal for the material. If you could put threaded inserts into this ligature (especially reverse threaded on one side), you would have a nicer product, IMHO.
