 Vito Resotone 3: Original Mouthpiece?
Author: Ben Shaffer
Date:   2019-04-23 20:56

So I picked up a Vito Resotone 3, 7212 at a local Pawnshop for $50 several years ago.
I just had it overhauled in anticipation of my grandson taking up the Clarinet.
I don't recall that it had a Mouthpiece when I bought it.
I'st got the Oval logos with Vito spelled out in boxy Letters
The Clarinet is shiny.
it's got a Bell without the metal ring.
On line the Serial Number which is A54044 indicates it was made in the mid 80's but I don't know how accurate that List is
Quick question does anyone know what the Original Mouthpiece would be for this Clarinet? Just curious
If I had to guess I would think the Vito 2 by woodwinds
BTW, this is not a plea for Mouthpiece suggestions for my Grandson, as I've got a bunch for him to try :)

Without knowing where you might find an original, if you knew what it was, since your grandson will be starting new, why not start him off with either a Behn Overture or Fobes Debut. I think most people here would agree that either of these would be a great place to start.

My Vito Resotone 3 (Dazzler) clarinets all came with Woodwind Company USA mouthpieces, with the Vito stylized "clarinet bell" logo. I assume that standard black Resotone 3s did as well, but I don't know that for certain.

They're fun horns that I loan out to local groups to mix-and-match for their festive concerts. Red-white-blue for patriotic gigs, red-white for Christmas gigs, red-white-green for Italian gigs, etc. Audiences like them.

If all "Dazzlers" are Resotone 3s, I can say for sure that they came with a matching mouthpiece. I once passed on a $300 red Dazzler with a matching red mouthpiece for sale at an antique store and regretted it ever since!

Vintage Vitos came with a hard rubber Vito 2V France mouthpiece. These were made from a a Riffault blank.

Despite being hard rubber, I think they are best avoided.
