Re: Crazy bass clarinet register key problem

Check all the parts of the mechanism mounted between pillars have some end play in them as plastic bodied instruments will expand and contract causing key barrels (hollow and mounted on a rod screw) or key rods (solid and mounted between point screws) that are well fitted (with very little to no end play) to act sluggish or bind up when cold.

This can be resolved by having the affected key barrels or rods fraised back with the specialist cutting tool to give a nice smooth and square end (as opposed to being filed or sanded) to create some end play relative to their lengths (longer key barrels/rods need more end play than short ones).
