I'm just guessing about this -- I don't know the answer and I could easily be wrong -- but since Pan American was once one of the C. G. Conn pre-WWII student brands, I wonder whether a store might have branded its house instruments with the "American Clipper" logo and an engraving of a Pan Am Clipper airplane by way of a clue to buyers that Conn made those instruments. If your computer tech still has the clarinet or pictures of it, maybe you could compare it with photos of the Conn Pan Americans.
