 Airy tone
Author: Clarence1

I've noticed that my playing is kind of airy, especially around the throat tones. You know, kind of like Eddie Daniels? Although I don't have his intonation or technique to make up for it. What do you suggest?

Have you tried using a slightly softer reed? Drop down half a strength and see if that clears things up.

The opinions I express are my own.

I'm not sure playing form the bell side would work...

differences in reeds, mouthpieces, and even small leaks are among the causes.

So Clarence1 and traceywooo are the same person? Just so we know who we're talking to here......

(How many anonymous handles does a person need? Red Chair? rmk? Are you all the same person?)

With more than one handle they can actually talk to themselves on this board.

Just a word of caution: 2 clarinetists should never breed.

The gene pool is far too narrow to risk it.
