You were probably looking at the wrong serial number list. 6109 would give you a manufacturing year of 1930 on the list for Buffet's professional clarinets. But you should have been looking at the E13 list. The one at this site (and a number of other places around the internet) doesn't go low enough for your instrument. It starts at (K)10109 which was made in 1961. The serial number lookup on Buffet's website, however, does return an entry for an E&S clarinet made in Novermber, 1954. That should be yours.
I would expect your instrument is marked "Master Model" because I have never seen an E&S from around 4000 to a bit over 10000 that wasn't. If yours is not a Master Model, please let me know.
K7610 (Master Model) appearing to be in need of a complete overhaul and most likely a new case, just sold on eBay for $262. That instrument is probably identical to yours so I would expect, in similar condition, yours would bring a similar price but I won't guarantee it. The buyer may have overpaid. Not all E&S Master Models are identical. As far as I have been able to determine, Buffet did not introduce its (then) "new" polycylindrical bore to the E&S model until sometime around 1960-61. This was a significant design change. Therefore, as a class, I consider E&S clarinets (both master model and otherwise) with a serial number of at least 11000 more attractive than E&S Master Models in the 4000 to 10000 range. I would have expected the instrument on eBay to have sold more in the neighborhood of $150 - $200, perhaps even less given the condition of the instrument in the photos. Some buyers on eBay and elsewhere will not make this distinction, however.
Best regards,
jnk
