An older Buffet R13 was donated early this year to a local nonprofit, and one of the people called me to wonder if I was interested in the pristine Frank L Kaspar mouthpiece that came with it. But I was struggling to pay for a week-old R-13 and had to pass.
I did test it, though. It would require some changes, mainly a much harder reed than I use now. But it tuned really well, much better than my current piece. The impression was of a good facing, mated to a blank that had some really tremendous work done inside.
So, what are my options for a Kaspar copy? Can you comment on how well they tune?
BTW the mouthpiece sold for around $450 to someone out west.
