I have a friend, in Barbados, who has a daughter, trying to make band this Fall. There is not much of a used instrument market where she lives, budget is short, and everything is more expensive there. I volunteered to find her a clarinet, thinking 'how hard can it be?'. I should know better.
Well, I made it more difficult than it should have been. Long story short, I now have 2, one from ebay, that turns out to be a Normandy Resotone (no digit) 2316D sn, but with a Bundy lower joint. I repadded it myself! (go ahead, roll the eyes) but now seeing that it will never do for her, I found another.
wooden, very simple logo "Jan Williams NY", local horn shop identifies it as a Selmer stencil. Badly in need of pads/overhaul,but to my eyes a beautiful instrument.
Two questions:
1. does anyone either have a lower joint for a Resotone, or want a case full of parts described?
2. does anyone want to overhaul the Williams in time to send to her this month? I work on my own cars, guitars, and kitchen table, but I should not work on someone else's horn. Ideas?
Thanks for listening!
Breath for a living.
