If you want to make notes sound less airy- blow less air into the instrument! This doesn't mean playing without "support". You'll be amazed how little air actually needs to go through the instrument. In fact generally: less air= fuller tone.

I expect that I'm now about to be contradicted. I'm just speaking from personal experience. Try it yourself...
