A friend of mine has up until recently been using reeds marked 'Buffet Prestige', but has found that all his suppliers have dried up. We are presuming that with all the upheaval at Buffet in recent years, they are discontinued. He can find some at the extremes of the strength range, but not his strengh 2.5. The questions I have are:
1. Does anyone know if they are still available? If so, anywhere in the UK?
2. Has anyone ever used these reeds? If so, what do you recommend as a replacement?
Cheers,
Mike

I believe Buffet reeds were made by Glotin -- your friend might try Glotin reeds and see if they do the job.

I thought the Buffet Prestige reeds were made by Vandoren (blue box) - and the same with Selmer Omega reeds.
The scrape and screen printing on the flat side were very similar.
I've only seen Buffet Prestige reeds in the bargain bins, so you should get your money's worth provided they're right for you.

I'm probably wrong then -- I wasn't aware Buffet supplied different reeds with different levels of clarinet. I was speaking from my experience with a few batches of Buffet-labelled reeds I obtained some years ago which were clearly Glotin in design and playing; as well as some 'two-packs" of Glotin reeds in Buffet packaging I recently obtained from The Unmentionable Internet Auction Site.
I actually like Glotin reeds, mostly..............

As far as I am aware they were long since discontinued. I used to play them for a while before switching the Regal Queen (also now apparently discontinued)

As far as I can tell, Glotin reeds for clarinet are no longer available.
Neuranter, the company that now owns the brand does put out a clarinet reed under their own name.
