At the end of a local concert once, I noticed that as the musicians walked offstage, a clarinet player's shoe fell off. It was also obvious, though I couldn't hear exactly what was being said, that some other wind players were teasing the guy--and one of them pointed at his mouthpiece, as the clarinet player retrieved his shoe and joined (rather sheepishly) in the laughter. I was too far away to tell for sure, but it looked to me as if he'd used a shoelace ligature....
