 Re: Elliot Carter clarinet concerto

The Carter Concerto is among the most difficult things I've ever played, having already done things like Corigliano and other new concerti like them. Carter's music for me takes a long time to prepare because if you spend enough time with it, it all comes out very naturally. Think of trying to walk again after a severe accident, seems very natural but sometimes it's the hardest thing to do. It's certainly up there in difficulty, but worth all the effort. Elliott has a special place with me and his music is something I cherish.
