Here are some pictures of the clarinetists from the concerts.

Pic 2 - Dan Harris with a vibraphone player. They played almost entirely improvised. As always with improvisation, some is great and some is not. It had some great moments.

Pic 3 - The Schorn & Puntin duo. They were amazing, I bought a CD. They had very interesting music especially the rhythm. Reminded the rhythm of Sclavis' music. Schorn played those contrabass clarinet and contrabass saxophone (or whatever it was, it is in the picture) like they were easy soprano instruments. Puntin used some nice effects, that yellow thing under the clarinet looking thing (not sure what intrument it is) and he had two bass clarinet neck, and one gave him a guitar-like distortion. The crowd went nuts after their concert. One of the best concerts in the convention.

Pic 4 - The american player Evan Ziporyn. He was the best one in the first concert, and played a great piece by David Lang. In his masterclass he explained he still plays his 1980's Selmer bass clarinet because new instruments just don't feel comfortable for him.

Pic 5 - That's Giora Fiedman. I also spoke to him a little and he is very nice and one of the most interesting people and best musicians I've met. His concert was about five minutes of playing and then another five minutes of talking, and it was maybe the best lesson I've ever had. He talked about what he thinks klezmer is, and that it's not a music genre, it is a way of life, and that we all are klezmers (which in Hebrew means instrument of song). I almost cried from his speaking and playing. He also said that when you realize you are a kelzmer all mouthpieces are good, and all reeds are good (that was an example to show what is important. He was the best one there with his old instruments and no special equipment.

More pics coming soon.
