It is just another good tool in your arsenal to get work, I guess. Tenor has a big sound, provides good contrast to the clarinet, and works well for dancing. It is a relatively easy double for clarinetists to learn (as opposed to flute, oboe, bassoon, or violin,) especially if you already play bass clarinet.
