i play the clarinet, and i know the notes and can learn most intermediate stuff but i am having sseroius troubble hearing weather i am playing with good tone/intonation or not, do u guys have any suggestoins to improving my general musicianship skill (ie tone/intonatoin and listening) besides mouth piece, reed adn other equipment?

i dunno if this will help but heres what i would do: first of all tune up yur clairnet, and then play long tones chromatically (i know, it takes a while, but it helps in the long run) and get used to what each note feels and sounds like, and dont forget to always used a steady airflow! good luck and hope this helps...ryan

thanks, its good to keep in mind, i mean i've been told that stuff but i think i will actually start doing long tones and i will try to memorize the tendancy of each note.

Ok, i hav a good idea that my teacher from 6th grade told me to do. Open up the inner oral cavity (IOC) by opening the back of ur throat using a yawning motion. The back of ur thoat will open up more and to feel the difference say "E" and then say "O"
