i know it aint a wind instrament but most mucians play piano and anyone who takes music as seriously as i do has to play for composition and such which i know can be done one guitar but tunes are easier to write on piano
my problem is i can never get the tunes from my head onto the thing and then on to paper is there any way of making it easier finding exactly what i want in my head and writing it on to paper

I also play piano, but I dont really write my own music, but I have rewritten music to make it more challenging and sounding more fuller than than the original. But I would suggest getting a Digital Music compostion music maker for your computer. I have one and it is great you can make your own music and make even a orchestra piece and play it from your comp. The one I got is a Voyeta Digital Music Starter Kit for I think $60? I am not sure on the price it's been awile, but I would strongly suggest getting one to help you.

Try using a tuner and singing the song, the tuner tells you what note you are singing.

$60 is a little over 35 GBP.
(I'm American, no GBP key)
