 Just got my new Vandoren Java mouthpiece in the mail a few days ago, but I have a question...the mouthpiece that came with my saxophone fits perfectly, while the Vandoren compresses to cork to the point where I'm worried that I won't be able to keep my old mouth piece from falling right off of it if I ever use it again...anybody know why this is, and if there is anyway I can do something to solve this problem?

 Do you play both mouthpeices regularly?  If you do, maybe you should consider switching to constantly playing one.  If not, i think they can do something about that at your local music store.

 maybe u didn't get the right size....MOST mouthpieces will fit most saxs, but there are some that are specifically designed for different types (like older yamaha's, mouth pieces had 2 have a larger diameter)
