Hello I came across a Bb R Malerne clarinet, the ser.# is D4331 and has Professional **** on the bell. This clarinet appears in good shape except for needing pads and corks. It doesn not have the original mouthpiece as the mouthpiece is plastic. I would like to sell this and am open to offers.

Mouthpieces are nearly always made of plastic. Normally the mouthpiece that comes with a clarinet is not very good quality. Players buy a mouthpiece from a company specialising in them, such as Vandoren.

Student grade clarinets come with plastic mouthpieces.
Intermediate and higher grade clarinets come with hard rubber mouthpieces.
However it is difficult to tell the difference between the two materials by looking at it or touching it.
It is probable that the R. Malerne clarinet has a hard rubber mouthpiece as these were probably not student clarinets.
