I have been playing an alto for about 15 months now.I have to say I cant believe how much I've learned in this amount of time. But I was wanting to know what kind of habits or mistakes should I try to avoid making while learning how to play the sax. What are some of the common mistakes I should avoid making so that they do not become habitual. Thanks for any info from professionals and amateurs.Music Man

what i see wrong in most new players is the finger problem.
especially in the pinky. and the practise in palm keys usually get quite out of hand, as in, new players kind of do the practise in speed and never really slow down to see what is happening there. it is a point to actually check out if you are doing it in a way that pains your hands and joints. and posture is a problem even to professionals.
as for the other even more technical stuff like embouchure and breathing, its best left for the player himself to experiment more and understand the idea behind all the concepts. all the best! and try to read more and attend more classes!
