I recently purchased an oboe from a store called Hewitts Music. It is made by Artley. I have sent it in the shop 3 times in 3 months. Is Artley a bad brand, or is it just the oboe?

I used an Artley oboe once as a loner while mine was being serviced. At that time I thought that it was a wonder that anyone using an oboe like it would have a desire to keep playing. He gave me three to choose from and they all seemed equally poor. I'm not sure if it was the brand or the model, but they were definitely tempermental.

I used an Artley clarinet for a couple weeks, and it wasn't too great of an instrument; I had a lot of trouble with the keywork falling out of alignment.

I started out on the flute with an Artley and it is in very good condition (I've been playing for 6 years) I have risen to the top of my band program with it, so maybe it is just the other instruments made by Artley that aren't that great... they are relatively cheap, and they are pretty decent for marching bands.
