when I working hard in the 3rd lesson, I learned to play C5 (basic fingering). Should my left thumb touching nothing and hold the flute with the left index finger, right litter finger and index finger, plus my lower lid only? Is it hard for the left index finger to grip the flute? Thank you for your kindly concerns.

Your left thumb hangs out NOT on the flute. You balance the flute with your chin, left index finger, right thumb, and pinky. I don't know what you meant by "lower lid", and your right index finger is certainly not on the flute. It IS hard, but it just takes practice. It will be easier in time.

Thank you fluter, and I think you got what I mean.
I made mistake in typing "lip" to "lid", ha ha!
