Any time you have a sore throat (for any reason), or something else is wrong with your mouth or throat, it affects your instrument playing (or singing).

Well ... I have a sore throat (been sick since Christmas =/ ) but I still play my oboe for like 30 minutes to an hour. I kinda have to because I have 3 sets of auditions coming up. But it doesn't hurt my throat *while* I'm playing; just when I stop. I hope you can play your clarinet again real soon. I hate it when it's so bad that I can't play my oboe at all.
