Does anyone else remember when this used to be a woodwind forum where we actually talked about music and not the Colorado high school marching bands forum? Those were the days weren't they?

Hi, I am still here. About a year ago, there were many active members talking about woodwinds in this forum. I also learned something about oboe playing from you. But most of the previous active members are no longer posting new threads now.

I am still looking at this forum every day.

Well, I think what's happened with this forum is pretty much what's happened to Livejournal (if you were ever into that). Eventually all the same topics just keep on popping up, and I think we all just got tired of rehashing the same old explanations all the time. I think probably most of the old people still read the posts, but like me they just don't have the energy or inclination to answer the same questions over and over. That's why lately there's been a lot of responses telling people to "search the forum" instead of direct responses which answer the question at hand.

i remember when there were new topics, and interesting people from all over giving advice. now it's just people talking about their marching band. it's ok to talk about it, but not to argue. do that someplace else. i wish not to rant, but i'm tired of this. lets get people with great questions to be answered from opinions around the world.

Actually, it's more like a "I can't be bothered to find a fingering chart on my own, so please find one for me!" forum

Also, what's with all these "I've been playing for a year and I can help you out with anything" posts?

lol, i know. I remember about 3 years ago when I came here, and posted, I would get about 5 responses that day and they were all helpful, informational, and gave you confidence in what you needed help with. Now it's all bragging and laziness.

Hey, maybe we can start up a good forum again! haha...oh I try too hard.
I think the main reason I stopped answering is because there was a plethora of people who didn't really have much clue answering the posts, and it was easier just to ignore than to fight.
I hope there are some new oboe players that the Torus-doboe-someone team can help out!

D

Because i have been playing longer than those people and I can't help alot of people. It isn't like it used to be

If it helps any, I think all of your bands suck.

So, is it true what they say about band camp?
