NO! Don't take it in yet! Getting pads replaced are VERY VERY expensive...I buy Yamaha Cleaning Paper. It cost $5 and you slid out a piece of the paper, put it underneath your pads and push down onto the paper a couple of times and it gets clean! works every time! My pads get sticky alot, and I can't afford to get them replaced every time, so cleaning paper is DEFINATLY the way to go. :D

i agree, taking it in when pads are sticky is a little extreme. although, a preventive measure should be put in place to stop the stickiness. my sax was very sticky before i got a proper cleaning rod for it. make sure you clean the instrument thoroughly or it will get sticky. cigarette paper works well also to help the sticky pads, some people say paper money works well aswell, the ink is supposed to help, but money is very dirty, and i'd advise against it. hope this helps.

I'd also recommend for upkeep, don't play your instrument right after you've eaten or after you've had some soda, because teh sugars get blown into your instrument, making the pads sticky faster. And if you can't brush your teeth before everytime you play, have a bottle of water handy so you can rinse out your mouth! :)
