Ok I hear all these different opinions about the tenor sax fingerings and the flute fingerings are the same, but only a lil different. and how it's easy to swith to tenor from flute. and that's what i want to do so bad. But then i hear that the fingerings are very different. what do i believe??? which is the best tenor sax to get...i'm not loadin on quick cash...and i want to get my sax by the end of school to start practicin for the summer..i could ask my band teacher if i could rent one from the school.or about the music stores settings on how to rent to own one....if i teach myself how to play the sax durin the summer..do u think i could be good and have learned enough to play with my 8th grade band. i will probably have the basics down by then..or will i...and if so how are the tenor sax fingerings almost the same as the flute..i've seen the fingering charts for it on this page it kinda does look like there very similar

Learning the sax takes time just like any other instrument. You might not learn all of over the summer, but if you feel it is urgent to have a fair knowledge of the sax by next school year then LESSONS ARE MANDATORY!!!!!

The fingerings are not the same, but the sax has the easiest fingerings of any instrument, so fingering won't be a problem. The problem is embouchure and breath control. These are different from the flute, so that's what you'll have to learn.
