I thought there was something wrong with me.
I love musical instruments, and over the years have been involved in a number of them. People look at me funny. I am viewed as being quite demented for this flaw in my nature. I love to make sounds.
Can anything be done? LOL
I am so delighted and surprised to find this board!
God bless you all!

HA! No, you're not alone. Maybe we should rename this thread "12-step program for multi-instrumentalists."
My name is Erik, and I'm addicted to woodwind instruments.

Elk,
Welcome to this forum....there are a number of us "demented" ones out here. I'm having the time of my life getting the reed II book of MAME ready for a community theater. Alto sax, flute, Bb and Bass clarinets. 4 different instruments, 4 different embouchures, some very fast instrument changes involved. And I'm loving every minute of it. Can't wait until rehearsals start.

I mostly play the saxes, but for me that means:
Soprillo Bb (picollo)
Sopranino Eb
Soprano C (that has horrible intonation challenges for me)
Soprano Bb
Alto Eb
C Melody
Tenor Bb
Baritone Eb
Bass Bb
I chosen to forego the F Mezzo, Conn-O-sax, and countrabass saxes because of the cost associated with these intruments. The Conn-O-sax that I have played is priced at $60,000 but is the sweetest sax I have ever played.
So when I think what some of you play, I am awed. I started on the clarinet two years ago and bass clarinet a year ago. It will take me years to gain the fluidity that I have with saxes. So just thinking of oboes, English horns, and bassoon just is out of the question.
My wife plays clarinets:
Eb soprano
C soprano
Bb soprano
Eb alto
Bb bass
And she started the saxes a little over a year ago. She is making a lot more progress on saxes than I am on clarinets.
