The original thread here is about just that, to learn the different subjective perceptions a player experiences and how that relates to the projected sound the audience hears.

The idea of identifying different over tones exposed at different angles of play (by turning the head to reveal them) in a given room suggests a number of things we might consider as players.

Finding a very strong preponderance of fundamental and octave partials was one goal and it was suggested playing there creates a 'carrier wave' phenomenon... someting that projects a fuller tone out into the room.

My experiences of recording up close and at some distance at the same time seems to reinforce the concept.

Beyond that, there are other things to discover in this technique...
