I figured if the oboe being provided was not playable, I simply wouldn't play. Thankfully the oboe was playable in the end. That oboe was certainly a sight though. The cracked/separared portions were severely cracked. It was like they glued back a fallen pot with little pebbles and pieces and everything and yet it was able to play well. I may just bite the bullet and pick up a Barrington in case another outdoor event comes up... or winter. The oboes I tried were not as shrill in the upper octaves as I once rememberd my own Yammie being, perhaps plastic instruments have improved in design somewhat. Regards, Stephen Los Angeles, CA
