The oboe world (well, the MUSIC world) lost two big names this week. Of course, there is William Bennet, as already stated here, but we also lost Washington McClain, an amazing baroque oboist (and man). For those of you who aren't familiar with Mr McClain's work, you can hear his beatiful velvety tone [here] (http://www.musicaltoronto.org/2013/02/27/sudden-death-of-former-tafelmusik-oboist-and-period-performance-teacher-washington-mcclain/)
Both of these fantastic artists left us too soon and will be sadly missed.
I would like to extend my condolences to friends, family, and colleagues.
