Hi Everyone,
This is a bit of a continuation for the "reed sterilization" thread. I just wanted to post some pics of my work on reed making, and I am interested and appreciative of everyone's input and help.

Assuming that I can get these attachment right, I. Have 5 pics for you. One is my work area. The other 4 are pics of 4 reeds, 2 pics of each. I have them labeled, and here are their specs:
(All cane is Albion Mack-Pieffer pre-gouged and shaped from Forrestsmusic.com)
Reed #2: Staple=Chudnow "E"; Tie on Length=unknown; Length=70.5mm; Tip=330 scrapes; Heart=75 scrapes; Windows=95 scrapes; Crow=C; Crow color=3 octave
Reed #8: Staple-Loree "AK"; Tie on Length=72mm; Length=70mm; Tip=240 scrapes; Heart=70 scrapes; Windows= 65 scrapes; Crow=C; Crow color=3 octaves
Reed #10: Staple=Chudnow "S"; Tie on Length=72mm; Length=70mm; Tip=200 scrapes; Heart=65 scrapes; Windows=70 scrapes; Crow=C; Crow color=1 octave
Reed #12: Staple-Stevens Pro #2; Tie on Length=72mm; Length=unfinished; Tip=300 scrapes; Heart=30 scrapes; Windows=30 scrapes; Crow=unfinished, hard, crowing high
I'm very new to making reeds, in fact I've made 14 total (including 4 unfinished). I also do not have an oboe right now, so I cannot play test any of these, and have to work off crowing alone. I think the Mack-Peiffer is good, I am interested in Joshua +2, but need to get an instrument before testing different types of cane. I will purchase a shaper tip as soon as I find the best shape for me. Ann Hodge will be a good resource when I'm ready for that. I'm looking into Used Howarth S5, S5XL, and Marigaux 901. Possibly Loree AK or MCW Full Conservitory. I should note that I am a Sax, Flute, Clarinet doubler, and have other projects currently taking my priority. I hope to have an instrument by March.
Obseravations: The Chudnow "E" is quite resonant, probably most of the bunch. Chudnow "S" is the most mellow, and I do not know if that is my scrape, or the staple itself. The AK is quite resonant. I have worked on Stevens #1 and it takes less scraping, but is less resonant. The Stevens Pro #2 seems to be resonant almost like the AK, although it is currently unfinished.
Special thanks to Oboe Craig for his interest, and anyone else who suffered through all that info.
