Good points... table top = bad position acoustically. Too close to a wall and especially a corner location is also bad.
Yes, its amazing how good the Handycams sound. Mine is a Sony DCR-SR47 60 GB HD setup.... sounds fancy, eh. It cost around $300 on sale a couple years ago.
My studio headphones cost more than that!
Seeing your diagrams reminds me of my acoustics lessons at college where we studied room characteristics and all the variables around direct and reflected sound and the impacts on reverb and tone caused by different absorption of materials (and people, as in audiences were included).
So, granny yawns, pops in a cough drop and her ceramic choppers change things just enough.....:) Then she fans herself with the program and all hell breaks loose.
Your diagrams also remind me, I have much better places to record than my little studio. I think I'll do a little of that for comparison.
