Just purchased this Selmer Goldentone student MPC. I bought cheap because it came with the classic Selmer Magnitone lig in perfect but tarnished condition. The MPC looks to be made of similar material as the Brilhart Tonalin. No number on it so don't know tip opening or facing. BUT. And it's a BIG BUT. This MPC plays as well and in some cases better than my other more expensive "PRO" MPCs. I am flabbergasted and exuberated over the tone and sound of this "student" model MPC. I'm playing it with a Mitchell Lurie 2.5 reed, so leads me to believe the tip is 1.20mm. Is this normal for a student MPC to perform so well? If so then start making them again. Also the Magnitone or is it Magnatone lig wotks like a dream. Even on my crystal MPCs, which usually slip and slide with metal ligs. Total cost for MPC and lig was just $50. I fell like I won the lottery!
WOW!!
