Scratches in Mouthpiece

I recently bought a mouthpiece and I noticed scratches on the inside, it’s at the lower end of the baffle. I’m pretty sure it’s not the mouthpiece maker who did it, I think the scratch might’ve come from the end of my swab. Is this scratch a big deal or should I get it fixed? I haven’t noticed any differences but it’s also a new mouthpiece so I haven’t had much time with it.

Scratch marks in the baffle are often the result of fine-tuning or tweaking done by the maker or finisher of the mouthpiece to affect the timbre or sometimes the pitch of the finished mouthpiece. Often riffler files are used, which are small files with flat or profiled surfaces. Some people cover the files with sandpaper so they have the shape but with finer abrasiveness.

IMO, it isn't likely your swab made any marks in the mouthpiece - unless you're swabbing with coarse abrasive paper or something else that's harder than the rubber the mouthpiece is made of. If it worries you, show it to someone knowledgeable about mouthpiece finishing, but I doubt it's significant.
