Thanks Peter. These sound interesting and I look forward to hearing these pieces.
It seems the BBC has a lot to answer because of the post-war shift to modernism/serialism. A lot of talented composers who wrote music with a melody just weren’t commissioned/published/broadcast in their day. Gender discrimination was another issue. A few are getting a hearing now and that’s down to the efforts of people such as yourself. Thanks for that.
Also, I enjoyed the recent BBC broadcasts of those Ruth Gipps pieces you participated in. Another neglected female British composer from the same period your new album covers.

That’s very kind. That Gipps disc will be released in September.
I agree Glock has a lot to answer for really. In my own research I read through the folders at the BBC Written Archive of the composers I recorded. Susan Spain-Dunk’s folder was by far the biggest and the amount of rejection letters from the BBC after the war was crazy. Especially considering that the BBC chose her for broadcast in the 1930s.
