Does anyone know if Fred Ormand is still with us? I have not had any responses to my emails and the phone number I had has been disconnected?

I'll give him a call. It's been about a year since we talked. I think his wife would have written if something happened.
He suffers from bad eyes call Macular Degeneration. So he often would rather talk rather than write. They were living in Lawerance KS. He's in his early 80's and the last time we talked he retirement was not even considered. He was playing golf, looks very strong, and healthy.
I'll look for his number. One of the nicest men I ever met. His playing is still excellent. Probably the best teacher I ever had.

Gary Van Cott - I've been pretty Busy going to doctors. Ill look for Fred's number in the morning. Gary, did you know him? So many students of his are sitting in major orchestras and teaching at very top colleges. He was indeed the best teacher I ever had. He guided me with I was designing and testing mouthpieces. Another student, and a goof guy is Richard Hawkins. Of course David Shifrin. There is a guy in Denmark, Lee Morgan teaches and plays in their top orchestra. Fred had that gifted still in how to teach and get the most out of everyone. This is kinda cool - Fred's wife is an opera singer and she and Fred recorded Shepard On the Rock. Piano, voice, the clarinet.
