Tony F started a new topic on this board-VERY interesting-in which he compared intonation of various makes and models of clarinets. A certain Pustophon ranked very highly in Tony's test. I had never heard of this make and have found very little information on it. Could anybody out there tell me more? There must be one in the Nick Shackleton (spelling?) collection.

As has become the norm these days, Wikipedia can provide some basic information, and I assume that most people would look there initially, but here is a link, anyway:

https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Püstophon

That's just info about the "brand". Of course, we are all hoping to hear from clarinettists who have actually played such an instrument.

For the old posting I couldn't at that time verify if my clarinet was marked "Püstophon" or "Hans Kreul" So I'd like to add here a photo. Besides "Püstophon" the instrument is marked "MVO Nr. 85"- probably meaning instrument Nr. 85 of a "Musikverein" in O (?).
