There's a very sturdy but pricey contrabass stand advertised on eBay. Has anyone bought one? Worth the price??
Thanks

A friend of mine, a contrabass player, replied this way when I asked him if he had an Ida stand by any chance.
"I have a Hercules bassoon stand that I had an extra foot of tubing welded in so it would hold the contra. Not the most stable but it works at home."
I've never seen him haul a stand to a rehearsal. During a break, he lays his contrabass in its case.

Roxann, Thanks for your inquiry to your friend. I have that bassoon/ bass clarinet stand too and I use it as is but it;s a bit wobbly for the contra.
Thanks for the additional information. I might stil get the Ida stand as it looks more made for a conta. Pricey it is though.

If you live in the USA, you will be billed an import tax several months after you get the stand if you choose to order that way. I didn't know that when I bought a clarinet from England. I got a $65 bill about 4 months later.
