Hello,,
I have a silver Arthur Uebel clarinet from a heritage.
This instrument was played by the famous alt-saxophonist piet Noordijk..
Can anybody tell me something about this clarinet?
There is a number egraved: 721280 552 or 552 721280.

The format of Uebel serial numbers in the East German days was that the "72" indicates it was made in 1972 (is it stamped "DDR"?). 552 would be the model number, although they don't make a model of that number today.

I don't see anything like DDR, so it would be made in Western Germany in 1972?

Uebel were East German from 1949 until 1990 - some instruments from the Markneukirchen and surrounding area makers during this time didn't always have DDR stamped on them.
