Like many of you, I've been watching The Roosevelts: An Intimate History on PBS. Ken Burns really did an amazing job.
This prompted me to do some further reading, and I discovered there was a musician in the family, composer and pianist Joseph Willard Roosevelt (1918-2008), son of Kermit and Belle Willard Roosevelt and grandson of President Theodore Roosevelt. He lived an interesting life as a pianist, composer, and professor of music, and among other things, he studied piano with Nadia Boulanger.
I had never heard of him, but noticed that he wrote a number of compositions including a trio for clarinet, cello, and piano and Waltz for flute (or clarinet) and piano. Did any of you ever meet him, perform his music, or hear his music performed?
