 Jakob Winter and Buffet Cases
Author: ThatPerfectReed

Hi:

It would seem from their catalog that Jacob Winter http://www.jakobwinter.de/en/ makes 2 types of clarinet cases: their shaped case, not unlike the Buffet Pochette case, and regular clarinet case with flat sides (both in single Bb and "A and Bb" sizes.)

There's some stuff on the bboard about the Winter cases but the following doesn't seem to be addressed.

What is the difference between Buffet's pochette case and Jakob Winter's. Does it boil down to "one has a Buffet logo," [wink] or is there more?

It's my understand that these Buffet cases were designed/produced by Jacob Winter. Is that still the case (no pun intended)? Is Buffet's design slightly different, apart from the logos?

Also, I'm to understand that in either the Buffet or Jacob Winters double cases, the bell has to stay attached to the bottom joint. True? And if so, what kind of problems can failure to routinely seperate these 2 pieces cause?

Thanks.
