Hello,
I have what I think is an old Marconi Clarinet. I can clearly see ARCONI but cannot clearly see the M. It is complete and in the original case. I do have one small component that appears to be broken off but cannot see where it goes. My grandfather played it in Italy before WWII. When he was alive I remember he told me that Mussolini walked up to him and held it for a moment. Looking to find out more about it and it's value. Been holding for many years and it may be time to move it. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

The broken off bit is the linkage from the lower joint ring keys - this can be resoldered on (by hard/silver soldering only - definitely NOT with soft/lead solder!) by a decent repairer to make it functional again.
Don't lose the broken piece or they'll have to make a new one from scratch which will cost a lot more than having it soldered back on.
The ramp on the broken piece looks similar to the ones seen on Selmers from the '30s to early '60s (from Balanced Tone up to and including the Centered Tone) fitted with articulated G# keys.

It's value would be considerably greater if you could provide a photo of your grandfather's clarinet being held by Mussolini.

Unfortunately my grandparents have passed away so if they had a PIC, God only knows where it ended up. Oh well. Right now it's just an old Marconi.
