Does anyone have any suggestions for intermediate level music for this strange sounding duo? My friend and fellow clarinettist has forsaken clarinet for recorder but we miss our weekly get togethers to play. Any ideas gratefully received.

Flute parts are problematic for alto (treble) recorder. It goes down only to F, and the low G and F are weak.
Also, the loudness mismatch makes it difficult for the clarinetist, who will typically need to play high notes very soft.
If you're a good transposer, flute duets are great. The top flute part doesn't use the low notes much. I usually play my C clarinet, because it makes transposing unnecessary and the sound is lighter.
Recorder is very easy to learn, since you already know the F fingerings. (They match the clarinet's low register.) It took me only about 2 weeks to learn to play alto recorder. I now play *lots* of recorder, and it gives me access to earlier music. Recorder also improves your control of air pressure on the clarinet.
Mozart wrote a dozen duets, originally for 2 horns, which work well for recorder and clarinet.
There are many duets in the Klose, Langenus and Lazarus methods that are decent music fun to play and not too difficult for you to transpose at sight. For something more challenging, try the Khulau flute duets.
Medieval and renaissance music duets are also excellent and give both of you an understanding of the foundation on which later music is built. For example, the Musica Britannica series contains lots of 2-part material (for example in the volume of Music at the Court of Henry VIII. They're very expensive, though, and excerpts are available at reasonable prices.
