 Légère reeds and glissando

Hi,

I recently switched to legere signature reeds (previously V12 strength 3, now legere signature strength 3) . I am overall really satisfied with the legere except for 2 things :

- Response in altissimo seems a bit delayed compared to V12.

- I cannot reliably play the Rhapsody in Blues glissando with it (I play it reliably and effortlessly on V12 reeds with the same mp/lig setup).

While I'm adapting to the altissimo issue, which seems less and less of an issue with time, I can't figure out how to get the glissando out.

I can get out the higher notes of the glissando quite easily if I start from G, but I can't start from D without squeaking (my legere reed seem to be a lot more resistant than equivalent V12 in lower clarion, which is not a usually a big problem for me, except for the glissando).

Did any of you playing legere have had the same problem ? If so, do you have any hints what I should do differently to manage the glissando ?

My setup is Buffet E11 with Vandoren B45 lyre mp and Vandoren optimum lig used with the "4 dots" plate and legere signature 3.

Legere reeds are very particular about placement on the m/p. A little off to one side or the slightest bit of skew and they will squeak. With a V-D B45 and a Legere Signature 2.75 I can play the glissando OK. If your Legere reed is more resistant than your V-D V12, perhaps it's a bit too hard. a 2.75 might work better. Perhaps.

Try a different ligature, I've found that the choice of ligature seems to be more of an issue with Legeres than with cane.
