Attachment: Old Sher melody_1 - Clarinet in Bb.jpg (152k)
Hi everyone, here is another chance to play some klezmer music. Here is the "Old Sher" It's on Andy Statman's klezmer video (well worth owning) so here are the tracks
1. http://snd.sc/H3u0DG I'm playing lead, Gun's and Moses playing the band
2.http://snd.sc/H3ubPx Sans clarinet lead, Same tempo as #1
3. http://snd.sc/H3ubPx Sans clarinet lead, slower speed
4. Bb lead sheet
Please play along and let me know how it's working. I'm currently finishing up a about 35 tunes in this fashion, easily enough to play a gig or concert.

Hopefully, I can get a lot of people playing Klezmer for fun. and Isn't it about time we start having fun playing.

It does amaze me that on this board more people will respond to "what humidity" packets should I use with my reeds, rather than anything that has to do with playing music. Any music, any style. 40 people will post something on a new clarinet model, that to my knowledge nobody has played. If it was introduced at the Frankfurt Music Messa, someone should have played it, and that might be interested in reading. But post something that a clarinet might be able to use, to improve some aspect of their playing, people will gravitate towards "kvetching" about equipment, many of whom, kvetch about things they don't play and many haven't even tried.
Talking about music is like dancing about architecture.

I'm always hesitant to add comments since I'm just an amateur. But when I saw this thread, I listened right away and downloaded the music score. It's really fun to play along with (and the slower sans melody is just about the right speed for me). I also really enjoyed listening to the full version with you and the Guns and Moses band (I agree - great name!).
By the way, Klezmer clarinet music has been one of the lovely surprises that I found in discovering clarinet repertoire. My background in music is mostly classical, but having grown up in Montreal I spent a lot of time in and around the Hebrew community and the Klezmer music always brings back great memories. The clarinet is such a beautiful versatile instrument.
Thank you, Tom, for the links to your music! I'd love to see more.

Tom - thank you. A very generous gesture to post this music. Hopefully the reason we're not talking about it is because we're playing it.

Thank you, Tom. I still lurk on these boards despite hardly touching my clarinet these past couple years... but just possibly this will get me to drag it out again.

I like it, Tom. Great sound. Don't be discouraged that you don't get 40 responses, please keep 'em coming.

Hello Tom,
I enjoy Klezmer and tried to get this to play but nothing happened. What did I do wrong? I poked the arrow!

I just checked the links and the links worked. You can also download from sound cloud free. Which is what I would do. Enjoy Tom
