Pick up a copy of the third book of the Gustave Langenus Clarinet Method. It has some wonderful duos.

The Rubank Selected Duets, vol. 2 has some great stuff. The second part is often but not always a bit easier than the first. They're technically at a medium level but call for good musicianship. http://www.vcisinc.com/clarinetmusicduets.htm#C167.

The Vol. 3 Langenus duets are also good. http://www.vcisinc.com/clarinetmusicmethods.htm#C117 If a third player is possible, the trio at the end (a transcription of the Beethoven Trio for 2 Oboes and English Horn) is fantastic.

Vol. 3 of the Lazarus method http://www.vcisinc.com/clarinetmusicmethods.htm#C120 has three quite athletic duets with equal parts and decent musical content. Later it has three Operatic Duets, which are easier and have better music.

If you're up to the pretty high technical demands, and have an A clarinet, the Poulenc is very fine. http://www.vcisinc.com/clarinetmusicduets.htm#C459

For opera lovers with really quick fingers, try Ponchielli's Il Convegno. If it goes like lightning, it's festive champagne. However, even a tick slower makes stale beer. http://www.vcisinc.com/clarinetmusicduets.htm#C524

I have some free clarinet duets posted on free-scores.com that would make good festival pieces: http://www.free-scores.com/free-sheet-music.php?searchexact=2+Clarinets+(Duet)&compositeur=linear-music

There are 2 books of Mozart Duets, 6 in all, which are great music and interesting to play for both clarinets. I think the Rubank book 2 may have some of them in it. ESP http://eddiesclarinet.com

If you want a good concerto, Krommer wrote two great Clarinet concertos for two clarinets. Op. 35 and 91 I believe are the opus numbers. They are both very difficult and a great challenge.

Poulenc wrote a very good duet for Bb an A clarinet. It's challenging and very spectacular. I know there is a work by Lewis for two Bb clarinets, it's a bit jazzy and very cool.

Bernhard Henrik Crusell: Three Progressive Clarinet Duets

Written by a clarinet player for clarinet players in the early 1800s. Pick a movement to match your skill level.

The poulenc mentioned above is WEIRD! I played around with it a few years ago and it is .... um....interesting to say the least! Fun to play on, weird to listen to.

If you search on this very site, eventually you'll find a catalogue of music that is available for download, and in there is a duet for violins transcribed for clarinet. VERY challenging with VERY few places to breathe, but fun to work on. I suggest getting it even if you don't want to perform it. It's FUN!

Alexi,
You are so tactful.
Stronger words than WEIRD have emitted from me and my colleagues over that Poulenc piece.

Gus Langenus arranged both the Brahms Eb Sonata and the Weber Grand Duo Concertante as clarinet duets. Interesting and challenging...........they were not available for a while but I think they might be back in print.

Can someone please send me a link for a recording for the Poulenc piece, specifically the clarinet duet version? I've just finished listening to videos of the clarinet and piano accompaniment of the piece. I'm quite interested in playing it even though I know that getting movement 3 right will take much hard work and practice.
