I recently acquired a vintage selmer bass clarinet mouthpiece. It is the "C" model with the C in an oval on the table.
Can anyone here provide facing\tip opening information on this model? Anyone played this particular vintage\model or a similar one on bass?
Thanks!

My first Selmer bass clarinet MP was a C**, I bought it when I was in school, Joe Allard picked it out for me. I used it up to about ten years ago when I played and bought a newer C* the Dave McClune voiced. I'm guessing that they made three models of the C facing back then, C, C* and the C**. Back then I went to Everett Matson, the great MP re-facer years ago that everyone that ever did refacing learned something from, and had him try to match a C* to my C** that I picked up. I asked him to "open" the C* so it played like the C**. After he measured both he said he would have to "close" the C* to match the C**, which he did. Even though the C* is supposed to be more closed than the C** it turned out not to be. So much for quality control, even back in the 60s. Anyway, your C could be more like a C* or C**, who knows, you would have to measure the tip opening. ESP http://eddiesclarinet.com

Indeed, so much for quality control or consistency!
Were these pieces oval C*'s and Oval C**s?
