Need help finding out the specifications for mpc
Author: DTrinh09

I think this is a discontinued WWBW mouthpiece, but I'm not entirely sure. The Zinner JC-1 came bundled with my Buffet E11 purchase back in 05-06 and I've been using it ever since. I was wondering if anyone had information on its specifications--all I know is that it is a closed tip mouthpiece of 1.01 or 1.02mm. Thanks in advance.

Zinner still makes these. If you can't get it from anyone in the US you can probably jsut order it from the factory.

I have looked on the "mouthpiecework" yahoo! group and I could not find anything on it.
Why do you want to know the facing measurements?

Well I personally don't know how it affects playing, but I imagine it'd be handy to know if I'm looking for other mouthpieces with similarities.

"I imagine it'd be handy to know if I'm looking for other mouthpieces with similarities."
Then you would also have to be able to find out what the measurements of THOSE mouthpieces are, too.
As far as comparisons, though, generally the facing and tip opening can give you a general guide to what mouthpieces, but the same facing on a different chamber will give you different results. Similarly, two mouthpieces with different internal dimensions can feel the same if they have different facings.
Kind of like clarinets. If you have two clarinets with different bores, you will have different results if tone hole sizes, shapes, and positions are the same externally.

Skygardener is TOTALLY on the mark! This is the private hell all clarinetists must face......you CANNOT judge a mouthpiece by specifications. In fact, if you order an identical mouthpiece from a top custom mouthpiece maker it will still play differently from the paradigm.

You just have to try them out........sorry.

Of course the rough idea of what you prefer is always a good starting place.

The particular mouthpiece you seek is a Jerry Hall model.

The late artist actually patented the innards which included a modified A-frame sidewall and some aspects of the baffle and throat.

There is a facing curve also included....you can google this patent and perhaps have a mouthpiece maker duplicate it.

Alternatively, many mouthpiece makers have a jazz model which might with worth auditioning.

Private hell?! I LOVE the mouthpiece game!!! Even though I have a very good one right now, I have three others on the way/on order to try out. Cause you NEVER know if one will be better..........!!!

Just be careful you don't get rid of the ones you might miss down the road. There are two so far in my mouthpiece buying/selling records that I NEVER should have sold, and one that even though I couldn't afford it, I should have done ANYTHING I could have to get some extra $$$ to keep it.

If you really like this mouthpiece, you should try to find a place to buy the same model. Of course it won't be exactly the same, but it will be more similar than a different brand and model would ever be.
Zinner products are quite consistent and have very high quality control, so I expect it will perform close to what you have.

Hello,
I worked pretty closely with Jerry for a while, so I can give you what his favorite measurements were. I couldn't tell you what that one measures, though, unless I measured it. If you want his favorite measurements, please e-mail me.
