Hey for quite a while now I have unsucessfully been looking for a bag to contain my R13 A and Bb clarinets. I want a backpack style so i can ride my bike while carrying them.

Either a shoulder strap or backpack extentsion would be fine. I'm looking to pay no more than $US300.

I'm hoping you can all let me know of all the different possibilities I could choose between?

Thanks

Protec has a nice double case which can be used as a backback. You
have to buy the backpack straps separately, but the total price is still very reasonable. (Around $105 US including the strap from WWBW.com) I'm not sure what the shipping cost is outside the US though.

The picture of the double case that is shown on their website is
actually an outdated one; it now comes with special loops on the
sides and back for attaching this:

I recommend BAM cases. They're super light, durable memory foam cases that come in tons of shapes and sizes. I'm pretty sure that you can order a double clarinet case big enough for a Bb and an A in a backpack form that is under $300 US from Woodwind and Brasswind in the US.

I have an Altieri backpack case - I biked through Minneapolis all the time. With the Buffet attache case, it's a bit heavy, but I carried tons of music and reeds! Very comfortable straps. Very well made. It's also great for all weather! I have been looking at the BAM cases, also.

....a backpack is a good idea if the case is good and fits. I, however, biked with BOTH the double clarinet case and backpack with books - very heavy and not recommended, especially not while wearing "non-biking" shoes.

Do you want your music to fit into the case flat without the ends getting ratty? That's usually the only size problem I found with normal backpacks - they wouldn't hold the orchestra folder and the Altieri case did.
