I guess none of you hve heard of Andre Piccard clarinets from France. Any suggestions on where I might find out about them/it? Did a google search and nothing, so assume this horn I bought is a stencil of something. If you have any suggestions I'd like to hear......

It is a stencil of an R12. André Piccard was the nephew of Auguste (the one with the balloon and the submarine and the cool sunglasses) and he invented the Unparalleled Bore (a concert piece) and the Reed Greed (TM), a used reed shredder.
Just kidding.
But seriously, how does it sound? Well maybe it is a stencilled R12 and no one knew. Got a picture?

I had an Andre Ruelan years ago and have never heard of or seen another one. Yours sounds like a similar situation.

Thanks for the info Bob. What quality was your "andre"? Mine seems to be really nice.....except the upper joint tennon is rather long and thin....my R-13 barrel doesn't fit it.....loose and too shallow....same with the rest of the joints....seems it may be a small bore horn, yet very well made....I think I'll try and send some pics later today for those interested to take a look.....I guess I'm wondering if it's worth having a re-pad.....

I think my thread got lost in abstentia or something. Just want to know if anyone has info on this clarinet and whether it's worth repadding. Don't know if it sounds good or not....too many bad pads to get anything but the open g and A.....thanks for any help

The clarinet is made by SML. It's not the Marigaux model though.
If the tone holes doesn't have undercutting - it's a student model.

I figured if anyone would know....you would.....I've seen your work and you are excellent. Thanks. I'll look at the holes for undercutting. If it is a student model....what is your assessment on repadding? I mean the wood is beautiful and the keywork really strong.

"A student model" from SML is pretty good clarinet. It would be comparable to the older "B-series" Evette & Schaeffer or Evette by Buffet from the 60s-70s.
A clarinet like this doesn't have good resale value though.
